There’s not much going on with the Bruins other than Pucks and Paddles, which was apparently won by the humble David Krejci.

ON Bruins TikTok, we have a new post about our star scorer, Linus Ullmark. Note his hat.
@nhlbruins He’s fast ok? 😂😭
And then the Bruins are asked about their favorite Girl Scout Cookies. I agree with most of the choices. The Trefoils give you the most bang for the buck while the Thin Mints are just classic, especially straight from the freezer.
This is pretty mint. 🍪 #NHLBruins | @JetBlue pic.twitter.com/S4yXLBHgdm

Morning all.
Wish I could be all rah rah yay fun hockey things this morning but I’m pretty livid after reading this article:
https://www.outsports.com/2023/3/7/23629942/minnesota-wild-pride-jerseys-lgbt-gay-homophobia-nhl
We’re already utterly failing the LGBTQIA+ community right now and to see some NHL teams not supporting Pride nights is absolutely infuriating.
But I do have to give stick taps to the ducks, and more importantly, Lindsay Imber. Nice to see the Ducks support her and have her design their Pride warm up jersey. She’s their organist and overall kick ass woman.
It is because this shouldn’t be about individual choice it should be about being welcoming. Being gay or trans isn’t a choice but supporting a team financially is.
This stuff is driving me insane. Now is exactly the time that the NHL has to stick to it’s convictions, when politics is arbitrarily victimizing the LGBTIA+ communities.
Frankly, they should have Pride uniforms that they can wear for games on TV, not just during warm-ups, and using the rainbow stick tape should be an option in the games. All the minor leagues seem to do that with specialty uniforms.
That said, last Friday’s Boston Pride Pride Night uniforms were rather unfriendly to TV – the names and numbers were very difficult to make out. (multicolor lettering is just painful)
Exactly. And especially with the transgender community being under extreme attack. Any and all support is greatly needed.
That’s really pathetic and disappointing.
And the article says the Rangers did the same thing? New York?! Come on now.
Wasn’t mentioned in the article but I did see the Islanders were the same as well.
The hockey community still has more than it’s share of haters. Unfortunately, so does a large portion of our society in general. Often, it’s difficult to expose haters, but the NHL has found ways to expose itself. No matter how many steps forward we as a species make, somewhere out there we’re backpeddling like crazy…
Well, GH’s ankle saw its shadow, so it’s several more weeks of crutches.
While she was talking to her doctor, I took Boomer and explored the neighborhood. Found out that a large local park has an entrance that opens onto the bike trail extension which I hadn’t been on. Boomer was really good on the walk, but the wind was cutting through my clothes like a hot knife through butter – except cold.
I look forward to exploring it when the temps are better and the ground less snowy/soggy/icy.

Ugh! I hope she can resist pushing the doc’s boundaries. It’s a PITA being sidelined, but worth the wait for best results. As my mom always said, “This, too, shall pass”
I’m getting surgery next week, so all is good. Have to get the swelling down so I have some fun compression socks. Todays have bulldogs that look like Boomer
Good morning,
Watched some hockey last night. Bubble teams are in playoff mode right now! I think Buffalo falls short. They needed to beat the Isles last night and did not get it done. One too many passes frequently the culprit. Florida and Calgary kept their respective hopes alive with important wins.
Took a drive up to Bennington yesterday. Spectacular views between Heartswellville (love that name) and Searsburg (not a sear’s store in sight, wtf?). Loving where we live! Hoping to get ouf on the trail today for some exercise.
I guess it’s a view to make your heart swell?
Morning,
Nice cap, Linus. So the Bs get four days off then three games in four days. And i think I heard every weekend is a back-to-back for the next few weeks. Is that right?
Woke up to quite the covering of snow this morning. Maybe as much as two inches
. Leah’s school day was delayed an hour and several trains cancelled. Yep, England still cant do snow.
I just finished reading a book which was based on a real-life Arctic expedition in Victorian times, and I’m going to go to the Maritime Museum later, where they have some more info about it. It wouldve been ironic if I’d had to cancel because of a couple if inches of snow but the rain has already washed most of it away!
I love the arctic (and antarctic) explorations! I went on a kick of reading about expiditions that were trapped in the ice, like Shackleton. Shackleton’s story is really quite fantastic. The story of the Karluk (arctic) is riveting,. Did you read about Franklin’s expedition? Also fascinating. Iread a bunch of these during a deep winter when Jo and i were relying on wood exclusively for heat… including the foraging, harvesting, etc. It really put me on the scene!
Leah was learning about Shackleton in school a few years ago. Very interesting. They found one of his shops this time last year in the Antarctic.
This book was about Franklin’s doomed expedition. There’s very little evidence about what happened.
I read about an expidition whose mission was to find Franklin’s lost crew. That adventure was also pretty tragic, but had survivors. I’ll try to find it.
I haven’t read much about those expeditions, but what I have read sounds pretty horrible.
I know, they got a bunch of supplies, and planned for a nasty trudge through snow, ice, and frigid winds, but once you have a ship starting to get stuck in the ice? Hell no, I’m going home!
Funny thing about the Karluk…. their plan was go as far north as possible during summer, get frozen in the ice pack over winter, push north again when the spring /summer broke up the icepack, then walk the rest of the way…. oh yeah, sign me up!
Yeah, it’s unthinkable really.
The Franklin crews planned an 800-mile trek after abandoning the ships – when they would already have been suffering malnutrition and lead poisoning. Some of them made it most of the way too.
I guess they had no other choice but to try it. Unthinkable.
Some good stuff in the museum. Some Shackleton artifacts and a few things brought back from the searches for Franklin.
