On This Day in Hockey, the Sharks are looking for a new goal song, starting with this masterpiece:
The team used to play “Rock and Roll, Part 2” by Gary Glitter, but since Glitter is serving a 16-year sentence for sex crimes against children, I guess some folks objected on the flimsy grounds of “overwhelming existential and moral horror”. Pfah!
They then consisdered such cultural blockbusters as “Burn it to the Ground” by Nickelback. I’d thought they’d settled on a song by SixxAM (aka Nikki Sixx), which didn’t sound at all like that last one, but they are in the midst of a fan vote right now.
McQuaid & Roussel got into a “discussion”. With their fists!
I’m gonna pretend I didn’t like that.
(No I’m not)
Bruins made 16 SOG to Stars’ 8. Scoring chances were there.
A scoring flurry by the Bruins, tied it up, with goals by Brad Marchand (Bringing him to 30 on the season – a personal best!), and Kevan Miller. Then Loui Eriksson had a brief encounter with our old nemesis “No Goal!”.
But on review, the puck went in on a shot that happened “before the whistle” (which I don’t think anyone actually blew). Meanwhile everyone watching was trying to figure out if it went in off a kicking skate or a stick tip.
The officials were… just… inexplicable when dealing with goal reviews.
Bruins screwed 3x out of 4 on reviews by this officiating crew. (Even the Stars player interviewed at intermission commented that Bruins had something to be unhappy about there)
Now they have no timeout and are trailing 3-1.
Can we hire Q or Roy to yell at the refs? Claude clearly doesn’t want to get his hands dirty, but was still dropping Fbombs like they were going out of style.
The game isn’t out of reach, but it will be an uphill battle to come back from 2 down given an unsympathetic officiating crew and an opponent than can quickly get behind the defense.
The Bruins are in really, really, really southern Minnesota for their meeting with the Dallas Minnesota North Stars. Of Dallas. Both teams must just be lost. I can’t imagine this “Dallas” thing will last…
There’s a North Stars Alumni game coming up today, and Minnesota hockey fans are really confused.
Be it in Minnesota or Dallas (I get them confused) Tonight we get to see the Bruins’ semi-annual reunion with Bruins Alumnus Tyler Seguin.
