Tonight the Boston Bruins take on the Buffalo Sabres at the Garden. With a win Thursday night the Bruins improved to 3-3-0 on the season while Buffalo has stumbled out of the game and currently have a 1-5-2 record. This is the second game of a back to back for the Sabres who lost last night 4-2 to the Vancouver Cancuks.

Sorry, force of habit to post this gif whenever I see the words “Vancouver Canucks.”

The Bruins will be without Adam McQuaid due to a broken fibula suffered in the game Thursday night. With Quaider out, Paul Postma will be making his Bruins debut tonight. Rob O’Gara has been called up from Providence on an emergency basis and it seems he will also be in the line up:

The official Bruins Twitter account has confirmed Miller is not on the ice. Good news is Krejci is out for warmups so it looks like an injury bullet was dodged there.

Patrice Bergeron returned to the line up last night and wasted no time in making his presence felt. It was his first game of the season and his 900th NHL game.

The Canucks got on the score sheet first, but in the end no one cared because the Bruins immediately answered with Bjork scoring his first goal of the period. The Bruins ended up on the power play after Vancouver defenseman Erik Gudbranson was sent to the box with a five minute major for boarding Frank Vatrano. The B’s took full advantage of the power play, scoring 3 goals including this absolute beauty by Pasta:

Seriously, just spend your day watching this over and over again.
Krejci and Bjork also scored on the power play while Bergy notched two assist on Bjork’s first goal and Krejci’s power play goal.

Marchand scored a goal in the second period, assisted yet again by Bergeron. Then Bruins got a little too comfortable with their lead and the Canucks jumped on their complacency, scoring 2 quick goals towards the end of the second period. Of course one of the goals was from noted Bruin Killer Thomas Vanek.

Not going to settle for just assists, Bergeron scored his first goal of the season in the the third period to give the B’s some breathing room again and their second Quota of the season. Bergy finished his monster night with 4 points and was deservedly named the First Star of the Game. And, as always, he’s the First Star of our Hearts.

McQuaid briefly left game after taking a another puck off the leg. Can we stop shooting pucks at McQuaid, please and thank you?
Krejci left the game with an upper body injury and didn’t return. No word yet on if he’ll miss some games.

Overall a fun game!

Finally a hockey game! Tonight the Bruins play their first game in about 856 days since Sunday. They are back home at the Garden and welcome the Vancouver Canucks to town.

Both teams have struggled out of the gate. The Bruins are 2-3-0 on the season while the Canucks have gone 2-2-1 so far. The Canucks are looking to build off their win Tuesday against the Tootsies. They will be without old friend, Loui Eriksson, as he is out for a least a month with a knee injury after he collided with the net.

The Bruins are hoping to put the Vegas train wreck of a game behind them. Hopefully being back on home ice will be just what the doctor ordered.

Speaking of medical stuff, it’s time check in on The Bruins Infirmary:

Today’s optional practice saw a whirlwind of news dominate the day. It also caused phony to suffer from a bout of temporary insanity. There there, phony.

Fortunately it seems she has recovered and will be at the game tonight.
Also recovered is David Backes. Cassidy confirmed he will be back in the lineup tonight after dealing with diverticulitis. McQuaid will also be in the lineup so thankfully his leg is suffering no ill effects from taking a shot by Colin Miller during the Knights game.

The million dollar questions is whether Bergeron will finally play his first game this season. He did practice in a red no-contact jersey today, though Cassidy said he will be a game time decision.

Ryan Spooner has officially been place on Injured Reserve with a groin injury. Kenny Agostino has been called up from Providence and will play tonight. Agostino has had a great start in Providence with points in every game so far. He was also named AHL Player of the Week.

Now for the very much not good news. The Bruins have issued an update on Tuukka Rask, who had to be helped off the ice during practice yesterday after colliding with Bjork (No, not that Bjork London Bear!).

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

Dr. Khu and Zane McIntyre will hold down the fort while Rask is out.

A whirlwind of news indeed. I need a drink.

Let’s play some hockey!

Finally the wait is over! It’s game day!

The Bruins welcome the Vancouver Canucks to town and I’m sure Brad is happy to see them again.

Checking in on the Bruins Infirmary:
Backes and McQuaid skated with the team yesterday. Bergeron also skated, first in a white jersey before changing into a red no-contact jersey. We should see all three return sooner rather than later. Tuukka Rask and Anders Bjork collided during a drill and Rask had to be helped off the ice.

No word yet on his status. We did receive word that Spooner is expected to be out for at least a month.

Heal up Spooner!

Now let’s get to the comments because I’m sure Satan 81 is eager to share today’s Habenfreude!

Another day without hockey. Tomorrow can’t come soon enough.

Bruins did have a busy day on the ice. David Backes and Patrice Bergeron were both at practice and skating with their teammates. Perhaps we see a return of both sooner rather than later?

They also made a couple of roster moves, sending Czarnik and Heinin down to Providence.

There should be some information today on the injuries sustained by Spooner and McQuaid during the Vegas game. Neither were on the ice yesterday.

It was also Jake Debrusk’s birthday and he got a special surprise after a clinic for kids at the Warrior Ice Arena:

Hockey tomorrow!!

*Checks calendar* No game till Thursday? BUT I WANT HOCKEY NOW!

In the meantime, some good news from the Baby Bruins. Kenny Agostino was named the CCM/AHL Player of the Week. He’s been off to a great start, notching points in all three games so far. Keep it up, kid!

Now back to waiting for more hockey:
