Bruins-Preds Recap: Snoozeville

Welcome to the inaugural Game Recap here on Bobby to Bergy!

I’m afraid we used up all of our excitement on that first line alone. It’s too bad because some of us were excited to see a certain Preds defenseman, with that excitement quickly fading as both teams appeared to be trying their best snake charmer routine to mesmerize the spectators into not caring at all about the game.

Snake Charmer

Bruins @ Preds Period 1B & 1C

So, who cringed when they saw that Weber slapper hit Tuukka in the shoulder within the first three minutes of play? This girl did.

It’s frustrating to see the Bruins have good zone time and then let the Preds in. Also frustrating to see that Krug shot sail across the goal mouth. C’mon guys, you can figure Rinne out!

Also, as much as I love Seids, I saw him on the ice way too much. You know what that means, TOO MUCH KEVAN.

Sigh.

Let’s hope that they forget that the first period is over and capitalize on that Power Play.

C’mon boys, let’s do this.

Bruins @ Blue Jackets 2/16/16 – Third Period

Period 1B was nothing special.

Back and forth action, mostly, and some penalties in each direction. McQuaid phantom tripped Saad, who didn’t actually fall down. Still tied at 1.

Tuukka Rask was shaken up at the end of the first after a Matt Beleskey hit gone all kinds of wrong, but he came back to make some big saves.

On tap: more wine.

Too bad I don’t have any from the great nation of Finland, home of our Lord and Savior, Tuukka Rask.

Bruins at Blue Jackets 2/16/16 Period 1A

The Bruins will be taking on the Blue Jackets tonight at Nationwide Arena. In their last ten outings, the
B’s are 6-3-1. The Soldiers-turned-insects (seriously, what are they going for here?) are 6-2-2 in their last
ten games. Coincidentally, the last nine of those ten games have been started by rookie goaltender and
Finnish sensation Joonas Korpisalo. JK will be starting again tonight, against the Flying Finnish King, the
one and only Tuukka Rask.

A few bullet points for your consideration:

  • Saint Patrice Bergeron skated this morning but it still considered day-today and will be a game time decision.
  • Adam McQuaid has been activated from IR but could still be a game time decision.
  • With that, Colin Miller has been sent down to Providence. It’s better than benching him.
  • Blue Jackets’ Captain Brandon Dubinsky didn’t skate this morning because he wasn’t feeling too well, but reportedly will be in the lineup tonight.
  • CBJ reactivated Curtis McElhinney from IR and sent G Anton Forsberg back down to Lake Erie.
  • Bobrovsky (groin) is off the case but hasn’t been asked to turn in his badge and gun. He’s begun skating away from the Blue Jackets, but there’s currently no timetable on his return.
  • BC alum and CBJ RW Cam Atkinson met the dog he earned for a nice family with his hard work.
  • Scott Hartnell, Cam Atkinson, and Brandon Saad are in a three-way tie for the Blue Jackets’ scoring lead with 37 points. Saad has notched the most goals of the trio with 21.
  • In coaching news, John Tortorella is practicing again, after having broken a couple ribs in a nasty collision with Rene Bourque on January 22.
  • Torts is also now able to pronounce Joonas Korpisalo’s name. He was apparently quite productive after Bourque ran him over.
  • Lines, lines, everywhere are lines:

    BRUINS FORWARDS:

Rinaldo skated this morning, but didn’t take part in line rushes, so I’d expect the fourth line above to be the one we see tonight.

    BRUINS DEFENSE:

This is what they did in practice this morning, but Chiller has since been sent to the Land of the Baby Bears. So, I’d expect McQuaid to fill in for Chiller.

    BLUE JACKETS FORWARDS:

Boone Jenner – Brandon Dubinsky – Cam Atkinson
Brandon Saad – Alexander Wennberg – Scott Hartnell
Matt Calvert – William Karlsson – Nick Foligno
Kerby Rychel – Greg Campbell – Rene Bourque

    BLUE JACKETS DEFENSE:

    Ryan Murray – Seth Jones
    Jack Johnson – David Savard
    Fedor Tyutin – Dalton Prout

That’s the top pairing of the future, right there. Yeow.

Most importantly, let’s get ready to party – what’s on tap?
